Jaynie Halterman, a senior at Independence High in Tennessee, secured seventh place in the 5-kilometer girls championship race in 17:43.4 at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships at Balboa Park's Morley Field in San Diego, Calif. Halterman contributed to the South girls lineup winning for the third time in meet history, including the first since 2016, by placing five competitors in the top eight to win with 22 points.
